Review by hotel critic
The Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai is a delightful blend of classical elegance and modern comfort, located in the heart of Shanghai's prestigious commercial district. From the moment we arrived, the impeccable service and attention to detail captured our hearts. The expansive breakfast buffet at Rose Café was a true highlight, offering a tantalizing array of Chinese, Western, and even traditional Japanese dishes. Our room, with its big clear windows overlooking the city, provided a serene retreat after a day of exploring the bustling streets of Shanghai. The amenities were top-notch, from the electronic toilets to the filtered water tap for drinking. The hotel truly encapsulates the fusion of old-world charm and contemporary sophistication. The hotel's Sky Bar on the 33rd floor may feel slightly outmoded, but the panoramic glass elevator ride up the outside of the building is a thrilling experience in itself. While the smoking allowed in certain areas may not suit everyone's taste, the friendly and efficient staff always went above and beyond to cater to our needs. With 5 restaurants and 3 bars onsite, including a well-regarded teppanyaki restaurant and a peaceful French eatery, there was never a shortage of dining options. The hotel's proximity to the subway station made it easy to explore the city, and the range of recreational facilities, from the gym to the swimming pool, ensured there was always something to do.our stay at the Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai was nothing short of spectacular. It's a place where tradition meets innovation, where every corner tells a story of glamour and grace. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and convenient stay in Shanghai.
